When in Agta, Biliran, Leyte

February 11, 2017

I went to home last week in Leyte for a very important matter. A day before I go back to work in Cebu, my family went to Biliran to have a short staycation, as in really short. There are a lot of places to visit in Biliran, however, we are short of time so we decided to go to Agta Beach and VRC Resort in Biliran, Leyte.

Agta Beach is located at Almeria, Biliran Province, Philippines. It is approximately a 2-hour drive from Tacloban, which in turn is a one-hour flight from Manila, the country’s capital.

It is named after the cigar-smoking and tree-dwelling giant that according to to hearsays, roamed around the area. Sounds scary, right?

What’s in Agta?

The fine white sand bay. The cystal clear water. The visible islands around it and to top it all, it’s really quite there. Plus, the slow-roasted chicken! Yum!

How to get to Agta from Cebu to Ormoc?

By fastcraft, there are three trips daily between Cebu-Ormoc and vice versa or by plane as well There are also ferry trips, by the way.

From Ormoc, go to the van terminal and take a van to Naval. In Naval, ride a bus to Kawayan and get off right at the top of the Agta Beach Resort driveway. Or rent a tricycle, people there are kind and they will even give you discount, just haggle.

We stayed at a basic resort named VRC, there’s pool and karaoke 🎤. The sunset in Agta is also awesome. It was a good day to relax before hitting to work again. The Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Meet was also ongoing during our visit so we also went to their sport complex after hitting the beach and pool.

I wish we could have dropped off to Tinago Falls or Sambawan or Higatang Island but time is such a bitch. So definitely, I will be back Biliran to explore you more!
