OTAKUFEST X: The Matrix

February 21, 2017

UP Otakufest is one of the anticipated events in Cebu not just by otakus but Kpop fans as well every year. This year’s Otakufest theme is The Matrix and as usual, hundreds of enthusiast including me flocked over UP Cebu Grounds last February 18, 2017.

The event showcased cosplay competition, Japanese singing contest, original character design contest, digital photography, card battle, DOTA, merchants, Asian Pop dance contest and Art booths. This year’s guest cosplayer were Team EuRika, DD Tenka and Kpop Rookie group, AXIS B.

This is my 2nd otakufest and I’m still amazed how Cebuanos are really open to this kind of events. They really improve this year, I like how they put the food stalls at the basketball court and the merch booths just at the right side of the stage and yeah, it was more organize and spacious this year.

I’m also happy I’m with my brother. I think he kind of like the board game booth, he even played there. I got broke because there are lots of foods to choose from and cellphone got drained as well. I haven’t got enough sleep so I didn’t finish it till the end because of work. I planned to cosplay Yoshioka Futaba of Ao Haru Ride, however, the wig I bought was not yet style because I was having a hard time looking for an accurate wig. I’m glad I didn’t because it was really humid, I didn’t wear any sunblock so I got a bit of burnt skin, I was sitting on the grass during the cosplay competition and just wore a scarf on top of my head to cover from the heat.

But anyway, it was really a blast. Otakufest will always be one of the best otaku events in Cebu. See you again next year, guys! (puhon)

Warning: Some shameless selfies ahead. Photos are all mine :))
